The Christmas tree in Jerusalem’s Old City is being decorated by a crew of professional artists and a community of children.
The festivities are held each year around the festive season, when trees are cut down and lights are lit up in memory of those who have died in the last six months.
The Christmas lights are placed on a Christmas tree outside the Rabin Square shopping center on the city’s eastern outskirts.
It is believed that a group of six people took turns to cut down the trees, all in their 20s.
One of them, a member of the Jewish community who goes by the name of Rascals Gardena, started by cutting down the tree and lighting it on fire.
When the lights were on, he said, he was shocked.
“The trees were already being blown up by the wind.
The trees were being cut down on a regular basis,” he said.”
It was like we were living in a war zone.
I didn’t even know what it meant to live in Jerusalem.”
After cutting down his first Christmas tree on January 25, the group decided to take the process a step further and began lighting the tree up again on December 22.
They also made a Christmas ornament out of a white sheet, wrapped in red plastic and placed on the Christmas tree.
It was the first time the two groups have ever made a holiday ornament together.
The two groups also decided to light up the Christmas trees at different times each year.
This year, they will light the lights on Christmas Eve, which is also the eve of Christmas and the start of Jewish New Year.
Rascals, who is in his 50s, and Gardena have been working together since 2007.
They are both in their 50s and live in the Jerusalem suburb of Kfar Kavir.
