In my own garden, I have a small plot of land with some flowers and a few small shrubs.
I’m not really planning on growing much, so I’ve planted a couple of herbs and a handful of flowers.
I’ve had a few failures to germinate, but I’ve been lucky enough to have had good luck.
And I’ve managed to keep my water well managed.
But when the weather is warm and the sun shines, and I want to grow some food, I’m often in the mood for a little gardening.
Here are some tips for keeping your garden well-fed when the season comes.
Keep it well watered Keep the soil in your garden moist with plenty of rainwater and a good, deep well.
I find that the soil works best when I’m keeping the soil at least three feet deep, but if it’s not deep enough for the garden, you’ll have to fill it in with some gravel or sand.
Water your plants regularly.
They need to be watered frequently to keep them healthy and to make sure they don’t get too dry.
Grow your own foods Keep a large garden supply handy, because you’ll need it in the event of a drought.
If you’re growing vegetables, be sure to have some garden seeds and compost handy.
Keep the temperature down When it’s too hot, your plants won’t be able to withstand the heat.
If the temperature is too cold, you won’t get the benefits of growing vegetables.
If it’s cold outside, it’ll be too hot for the plants to survive.
Keep your plants well fed Make sure your garden plants get enough water.
I usually keep my plants in pots of about eight to 10 gallons (25 to 30 liters) for the most part.
If your garden has lots of foliage, a small garden pot may be ideal.
If not, just use a small dish or basin to keep the water level.
I love to plant vegetables in pots in the summer.
It’s a great way to get some sun, and a healthy amount of nutrients.
Plant seedlings If you plant seedlings in pots, it’s a good idea to leave some space between the plants so they can germinates.
If they’re too small to survive, you might need to move them to a larger pot.
Be sure to check on your garden every few months to make certain your garden is healthy.
If any of your plants get sick, you can take them home and treat them in the hospital.
Plant some herbs You can plant some herbs in your gardens to help keep them in top shape.
You can use either the fresh or dried variety.
It depends on how strong you want to add herbs to your garden, so you’ll want to test them.
If there’s a strong odor, you probably want to wait a few days before planting herbs in.
If an herb smells sweet, that’s a sign it’s good to plant.
Keep an eye on the water If you see a lot of water coming out of your garden in the spring, that means it’s time to plant some new plants.
When the temperature in your home rises, the water levels in your soil will drop.
You’ll want that water to be at least four feet deep and six inches (15 cm) above the surface of the soil.
If water starts to go down, you may need to use some soil and water in your ground to fill the gap.
When that happens, you need to take your water levels back up again.
This will take time.
Watch for pests Some pests may be more resistant to water than others.
If that’s the case, you will need to monitor your garden closely.
If a problem starts to show up, you could have a pest control company come in and help you keep it under control.
Protect your garden You’ll be spending a lot more time watching your garden when the water is bad.
That means you’ll be monitoring your garden more often.
I recommend spending an hour a day watching for bugs.
If bugs start to appear, you have three options: Use a hand-held air pump to keep an eye out for pests in your backyard.
It can spray your garden water from a hose or a garden hose.
Use a hose to spray water from your garden hose, which can be a little bit expensive.
Make sure to purchase a garden sprayer or garden hose that has a water spray valve, so that you can spray water in a hurry.
Use the hose to help blow water out of the garden.
This is the most common way to spray.
Use an outdoor sprinkler system.
This system comes with an overhead sprinkler to spray your water in buckets, buckets, or a spray bottle.
This works best in warmer climates.
You may need a hose for sprinkling water outdoors, so be sure you have one handy.
